INPEACE, as part of the Community Learning Exchange, teamed up with Hawai‘inuiākea School of Hawaiian Knowledge at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa and Kamehameha Schools’ Ka Pua Initiative in presenting the Mākua Series, monthly workshops. These community-based learning experiences were for learners of all ages and are presented in the safe and welcoming Community Learning Center at Nānākuli. The Mākua series featured nine family workshops focusing on ʻāina (land), ha‘i mo‘olelo (storytelling) and mo‘oku‘auhau (genealogy). The Community Learning Exchange seeks to connect families to ongoing and intergenerational learning opportunities through movies, discussions, videos and hands-on activities. If you would like more information on this community learning experience or about the series as a whole, please call Sanoe Marfil at 808.620.9043.
