Parent Tips - How Can Parents Help?
The first learning and teaching experience is between parent and child and no one knows your child better than you. Parents should encourage their children to talk about their school experiences on a daily basis. Parents can also share their own first school experiences with their children, this helps children identify, and appreciate the continuity in educational experiences.

Continue to read to your children, and if they are a part of selecting the reading material they will be more motivated to listen, and have more of an appreciation for the subject.

Your child's first school experience is an exciting time for the entire family and when those feelings of excitement are communicated, children are more likely to share their feelings and their experiences, good experiences and challenges.

Encouraging your child to help organize and prepare before each school day, will reinforce early life skills they will learn when they attend KSTK, and when they attend Kindergarten.

Give your child daily chores or activities that will help them understand how to follow simple instructions and directions. Emphasis values like sharing and fairness, this will help your child socialize better with other children. Acknowledge and praise your child when they have successfully followed your instruction or taken the initiative to do something they have not been asked to do.

One of the ultimate expressions of support for your child is attending KSTK activities with your child. Attending school activities and events demonstrates to your child that you are interested and their school experience is important to you.
