Sherlyn Franklin Goo, M. Ed.
Founding Board Member
Ms. Sherlyn Franklin Goo is one of three founding members of INPEACE as well the 2nd Vice President of the Board of Directors. Ms. Goo saw the need for a Native Hawaiian community-based educational non-profit agency to improve the quality of life for indigenous peoples of Hawaiʻi. Ms. Goo holds her Bachelor's Degree from the University of California and Masters Degree Educational Administration from the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. For more than twenty years, Ms. Goo worked at Kamehameha Schools in several capacities including Principal of Kamehameha Elementary School, Assistant to the President, Federal Relations Officer and as a Director of the Early Education Division. She is a Native Hawaiian who has lived the majority of her life on Oʻahu.
Under her leadership, INPEACE grew from a small grassroots community organization to one that serves thousands of Native Hawaiians in their communities – ranging from parent-child interactive preschool programs to higher education. The development of unique partnerships as well as a strong commitment to community characterizes the work of INPEACE and its leadership. In that regard, Ms. Goo has been honored with two prestigious awards: the Ke Kukui Mālamalama Award, an Honor of Excellence in Hawaiian Education by the Office of Hawaiian Affairs and the University of Hawaiʻi - Mānoa College of Education's Recognition Dinner to Celebrate Partnerships in Education, a special recognition of INPEACE's Ka Lama Education Academy on the Leeward Coast. Currently, Ms. Goo serves on the Native Hawaiian Education Council, Good Beginnings and Mary Castle Community Advisory Council.
